چکیده

1 I n t r o d u c t i o n In previous papers the multi-parent scanning crossover and diagonal crossover were tested on numerical optimization problems, [3, 4, 5]. These tests were performed on a test suite of common EA test functions, still they were chosen somewhat arbitrarily, moreover the types of fitness landscapes they span are difficult to characterize. I t was therefore not possible to look for 'mult i -parent 's niche', [6], in a systematic way. For a bet ter analysis of the behaviour of GAs with mult i-parent recombination a systematic way of defining different fitness landscapes was necessary. We found such a way in using NK-landscapes that allow characterization and user control of ruggedness of the fitness landscape, [10]. We define what NK-landscapes are in Section 2. We give a brief overview of mult i-parent operators in EA in Section 3. Thereafter in Section 4 we describe the experimental setup, and in Section 5 we summarize the test results. Finally, we draw conclusions and sketch further research in Section 6. 2 N K l a n d s c a p e s The family of NK-landscapes was introduced by Kauffman as a class of problems where the fitness landscape can be gradually tuned from smooth to chaotic, [10]. The parameters N, respectively K specify the total number of bits (which will equal the chromosome length in the GA searching this landscape) and the

Application of fundamental relations on n-ary polygroups

The class of  $n$-ary polygroups is a certain subclass of $n$-ary hypergroups, a generalization of D{"o}rnte $n$-arygroups and  a generalization of polygroups. The$beta^*$-relation and the $gamma^*$-relation are the smallestequivalence relations on an $n$-ary polygroup $P$ such that$P/beta^*$ and $P/gamma^*$ are an $n$-ary group and acommutative $n$-ary group, respectively. We use the $beta^*$-...

A Walsh Analysis of NK-Landscapes

We use Walsh analysis to show NK-Landscapes form an extremely restricted set of functions out of the set of N bit functions that have interactions between K+1 or fewer bits. Several upper bounds on the extent of the coverage by NK-Landscapes are created based on theory developed in the paper.

Bayes-optimal Hierarchical Classification over Asymmetric Tree-Distance Loss

Hierarchical classification is supervised multi-class classification problem over the set of class labels organized according to a hierarchy. In this report, we study the work by Ramaswamy et. al. on hierarchical classification over symmetric tree distance loss. We extend the consistency of hierarchical classification algorithm over asymmetric tree distance loss. We design a $\mathcal{O}(nk\log...

Genetic Algorithms on NK-Landscapes: Effects of Selection, Drift, Mutation, and Recombination

NK-Landscapes are stochastically generated fitness functions on bit strings, parameterized with N bits and K epistatic interactions between bits. The term epistasis describes nonlinearities in fitness functions due to changes in the values of interacting bits. Empirical studies have shown that the overall performance of random bit climbers on NK-Landscapes is superior to the performance of some...
